Overview
festcountdown is built to need as little of your data as possible. You don't create an account, and the countdowns and timing calculators don't ask you to submit any personal information. This page explains exactly what does and doesn't happen with your information.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information. The countdown timers and the muhurat and Choghadiya calculator run entirely in your browser. They use dates and city coordinates that are already in the page. Nothing you do with them is sent to or stored on a server we control. There is no account, no sign-up form and no newsletter. If you email us using the address on our contact page, we will have whatever you send. We use it only to reply.
Local storage (your city and theme)
When you pick a city in the muhurat calculator, your browser saves the choice in local storage under the key fc:city. That way you don't have to pick it again on your next visit. It stays on your own device and is never sent to us or anyone else. It holds only the position of your city in our list. To remove it, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The calculator then goes back to its New Delhi default.
If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved the same way under fc:theme. It also stays on your device.
We do not detect or request your location. The city list is a fixed set of options that you choose from yourself. The site never asks for your GPS position or IP-based location, and it cannot see them.
Clipboard access
In the wishes sections of the Diwali and Raksha Bandhan pages, tapping a message copies it to your clipboard. This uses your browser's clipboard API to write text only. We cannot read your clipboard, and nothing about what you copy is recorded or sent anywhere.
Analytics and cookies
This site runs no analytics scripts and sets no cookies. There is no cookie banner, because there is nothing to ask your consent for. We don't record which pages you read, which city you pick or which wishes you copy.
The only things this site saves on your device are the two local storage keys described above, fc:city and fc:theme. If we ever decide to add analytics, we will update this policy before we add them.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data, such as your IP address and your browser's user agent, to deliver the pages and protect the site. That processing is covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Advertising
This site does not currently run advertising scripts. If we add advertising in future, we will first update this policy to say what is added and what data it collects.
Third-party services
Our web fonts are hosted on this site, so loading them sends no request to Google Fonts or any other font service. The gift links on the Diwali page go to third-party retailer sites, which have their own privacy policies.
Children's privacy
This site is a general-audience reference tool and does not knowingly collect information from children. As noted above, the site doesn't collect personal information from any visitor who uses the countdowns or calculators in the normal way.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, for example because we add analytics or advertising, we'll update this page and the date above. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated policy.
