Privacy Policy

Overview
festcountdown is built to need as little of your data as possible. There's no account to create and no form that submits personal information to run the countdown or timing calculators. This page explains exactly what does and doesn't happen with your information.
Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information. The countdown timers and the muhurat and Choghadiya calculator run entirely in your browser using JavaScript, from dates and city coordinates already published in the page — nothing you do while using them is transmitted to or stored on a server we control. There is no account, no sign-up form, and no newsletter. If you choose to email us using the address on ourcontact page, we'll naturally have whatever you send, and we use it only to reply.
Local Storage (Your City Preference)
When you pick a city in the muhurat calculator, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key fc:city, so you don't have to re-select it on your next visit. This is stored on your own device only — it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and it holds nothing but the position of the city you chose in our list. You can clear it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, and the calculator will simply fall back to its New Delhi default.
We do not detect or request your actual location. The city list is a fixed set of options you choose from manually — the site never asks for, and cannot see, your GPS position or IP-derived location.
Clipboard Access
On the wishes pages, tapping a message copies it to your clipboard. This uses your browser's clipboard API to write text only — we cannot read your clipboard, and nothing about what you copy is recorded or sent anywhere.
Analytics & Cookies
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful — for example, whether visitors are looking for the Diwali date or the muhurat calculator, and which cities get selected most. This is the only third-party tracking on the site, and it is used purely to improve the pages.
Google Analytics sets cookies on your device — typically_ga and_ga_NG1FN4LSF8 — which are used to tell one visit apart from another and to measure how many people visit overall. They typically expire after two years unless you clear them sooner.
What Google Analytics records for us: the pages you view and when, roughly where you are (country and often city, derived from your IP address), the type of device and browser you use, and the site or search that referred you. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. We never send it your name, email address, or anything you type — there is nothing on this site to type into — and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors or combine this data with anything else.
Your Consent Choice
Analytics cookies are switched off until you accept them. On your first visit you'll see a banner asking; nothing is stored on your device for analytics until you choose "Accept". We use Google Consent Mode, so if you decline — or simply ignore the banner — Google receives only an anonymous, cookieless signal that a page was viewed, with no identifier attached to you.
Your answer is remembered in your browser's local storage underfc:consent so we don't ask again on every page. Dismissing the banner with the Escape key counts as declining. To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Interaction Events
If you accept analytics, we also record a few anonymous events about how the tools get used: which city you select in the muhurat calculator, which festival tab you open, when a wish is copied (the category, never which message), and clicks on outbound gift links. These tell us which cities to build dedicated pages for and which content earns its place. They are counts, not profiles — none of them is tied to you as an individual.
Opting Out of Analytics
Beyond declining on the banner, you can install Google's officialAnalytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, block cookies for this site in your browser settings, or use any standard content or tracker blocker. The site works exactly the same either way — the countdowns and the muhurat calculator do not depend on analytics in any way.
Advertising
This site does not currently run advertising scripts. If we add advertising in future, we will update this policy first to disclose what is added and what data it collects.
Third-Party Services
Web fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. Loading these fonts involves your browser making a request to Google's servers, which may receive your IP address as part of that request, subject to Google's own privacy policy. Outbound links on the gift guide pages go to third-party retailer sites, which have their own separate privacy policies.
Children's Privacy
This site is a general-audience reference tool and does not knowingly collect information from children. As noted above, the site doesn't collect personal information from any visitor in the normal course of using the countdowns or calculators.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes — for example, if we add analytics or advertising — we'll update this page and the date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
